Mile
High RC's Outrunner Brushless Motor's
Dollar for Dollar Absolutely the Most Power for the Buck.
2014 Type "A" Outrunner Brushless Motor

Due to the high
kv rating of this motor it is ideal for just about any application.
Weighing in at only 1.5oz. and putting out a very respectable
3300Kv. It is an exceptional motor for Wings, Pusher Jets, Park
flyers. Originally designed for .15-.25 gas conversions it has the
power but comparatively it is to light and makes getting enough
weight in to the front end difficult. Of course to compensate throw
in a bigger Lipo pack and fly longer.
Like the other 400 motors we carry
most applications will find the stock 400 gear box, a GWS type speed
400 gear box, or
firewall mount gear box is in order. Extremely versatile you can
gear it for high thrust and slow speed (3D a small dog), or flat
out high speed.
It can also run as direct
drive (with small props) taking advantage of the 3300Kv speed is
just a matter of finding the correct prop (4" recommended). Due to
the power of this little gem we caution you to take amp draw
readings to save batteries and electronics. Rated at 20 amps on the
wing it seems to shrug off 30amps with no problem. Once set up this
baby kicks.
Motor comes with 2.3mm shaft, and screw only
Does not come with
bullet type connectors to plug to the ESC. Fits in to any
GWS type speed 400 gear box. And has fit every
400 size aluminum outrunner type mount I have tried so far. Mounting
holes are 16mm (or roughly 5/8 in.).
This is a type A motor. Meaning the shaft is
removable, and can be flipped from a pusher to a puller application.
No more press fitting a shaft or buying a new bell if your shaft
breaks. Simply loosen screws and the shaft pulls out for easy
replacement or mounting configuration. Made with high temp and high
RPM bearings, and high temp magnets good beyond 180 degrees.
Recently reworked the shaft now has very close tolerances
eliminating vibration, Magnets are good to 180 degrees, High speed
bearings supporting the shaft on both ends. And very rare in the
industry, and required by Mile High RC for all the 500 and smaller
size motors we carry, the stator is double bonded limiting stator
movement on nose in landings/crashes. All leading to better
efficiency and increased power.
With the
2.3mm shaft a pinion from a GWS 400
gear box will fit (Lock tight needed).
The gear box allows easy manipulation of the motor to fit the speed,
torque, and amp draw needed for your application.
For the direct drive guys we do have
3.0mm shafts if you prefer. Drop us a line and we will swap one
out for you. Can also use the popular prop adapters
but direct drive it is to fast for prop
savers. We also stock gear boxes and shafts for
this motor.

When geared
it's a full 1 oz. Lighter then a geared 400 brushed motor.

More stats to follow as we play
with this motor.
Tech Notes: This motor is
nicely rated at 20 amps and coupled with the 3300kv rating it is an
even better do all motor vs. the DF. The data on this motor looks
awesome. Admittedly we have not tested the limits on the test stand.
But we have loved it on the wing. A few tester pilots have loved the
performance on the Stryker w/4" props and we have been impressed
with the geared performance
on a .15 F3A pattern air frame.
For the birds in the 20-30 oz. rage geared 5.28:1 with 12" props is
the sweet spot.
Suggested set
up's to come as we put this little monster through it's paces.
We are finding the 20 amp limit is very
conservative. On the wing it shrugs off 30 amps without incident.
With proper air flow this little gem will deliver 250 watts easy.
Looks like a 10x7 prop geared 3.9:1 or 4.5:1 is going to be
close to the ticked for extremely well performing pattern flight to
about 30oz on 3-cell. 3.9:1 with an 11x7 or 4.5: with a 12x3.8
looks like well performing 3D around 35oz on 3-cell.
